By using the chat service, you confirm that you have read, understand and agree to the following terms of use and privacy policy. If you do not agree to be bound by them, you should not use the services of cpslatraversee.ca.
We respect your privacy
All cpslatraversee.ca tools and services are confidential. We are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy in accordance with the Law respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector. We also demonstrate transparency and responsibility in the management of any personal information you may transmit to us.
Clarification of chat use
When you speak with cpslatraversee.ca counselors, you may choose to share personal information, such as details about your situation. Please note that the verbatim record of all interventions carried out by these means is kept. What’s more, following a chat conversation, the counselors fill out an intervention report. These documents enable us to supervise the work of our counselors and evaluate our services. Only authorized persons have access to these documents (clinical coordinator, evaluation committee, complaints officer), and their use is strictly restricted to the purposes set out in section « How is your personal information used? »
We will not attempt to send help to your home, except as a last resort, if your words lead us to believe that you are in immediate danger. What’s more, we can never guarantee that sending help will work. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 911. In exceptional cases, if you contact cpslatraversee.ca, we may call you at the number you leave on the form, to try to assure your safety and avoid uncooperative emergency dispatch.
The information we collect and how we use it
Cookies and others trackers
When you visit cpslatraversee.ca, we collect certain technical data (cookies and other trackers) to ensure the proper functioning of the website, gather statistical data on the website and improve your experience.

Personal information
Personal information is any information that identifies an individual. The name of a natural person is not personal information, except when it is mentioned in conjunction with information about that person. Personal information may include name, residential address, phone number, email address, age, sex, identification number or financial information.
You are not required to provide personal information to use most of the services and tools offered by cpslatraversee.ca. In addition, we do not collect any personal information without your consent. We only collect those that you choose to communicate to us and those that are necessary for the proper functioning of our services, so as to meet your needs as best as possible.
We collect personal information when you take certain actions through our website, such as :
- You use our chat intervention service
- You communicate with us using our contact or complaints form
- You subscribe to our newsletter or provide us with your email address by other means (Ex.: through evaluation surveys).
How is your personal information used ?
Your personal information will not be used for any purpose other that the following :
- Respond as best as possible to your needs, requests and complaints, and to ensure the proper functioning of our services.
- Supervise the work of our counselors.
- Evaluate and improve our services, I’m particular through the production of statistics. Please note that we ensure that all the data we use for evaluation purposes no longer contains your first and last name, nor any city or place that could help locate you.
Who can have access to your personal information?
Within the cpslatraversee.ca’s team, only a few authorized people can access the personal information you provide to us.
All service providers we work with are subject to laws regarding personal information (ex.: the provider who hosts data related to cpslatraversee.ca’s activities). They do not have access to personal information that you communicate to us.
In certain situations, we may be required to transmit certain information collected :

without your consent to persons other than those named above. La Traversée – Suicide Prevention and Crisis Center does not exchange personal information with other parties and does not sell this information to third parties.
How is your personal information stored ?
All information you provide to us is stored securely in Canada.
Cpslatraversee.ca does everything possible to protect your personal information. However, we remind you that zero risk does not exist and that no technology is infallible. We recommend that you adopt prudent practices to help us protect your information.
If you prefer not to provide us with personal information, you will still be able to access several services, such as the chat intervention service.
How to manage your personal information ?
At any time, you have the right to request access to your personal information, to have it rectified, updated or deleted. You can also withdraw your consent for your personal information to be used for certain purposes, such as scientific research. To do this, you can contact the person responsible for the protection of personal information for cpslatraversee.ca. However, due to certain cpslatraversee.ca’s settings (ex. : ability to remain anonymous), we may not be able to fulfill certain requests regarding personal information. Please know that we will do everything we can to respond to your requests. For example, we may contact you for clarification.
